Relishes and chutneys are amazing condiments. I love this peach and onion relish for the play between the sweet peach and the sharp onion. It’s great with cheese, in a sandwich, or as an accompaniment for meat. And it’s surprisingly easy to make.

Peach and Onion Relish
Write a review
  1. 3 peaches (cut into rough ¼ inch dice)
  2. 1 red onion (also cut into rough ¼ inch dice)
  3. 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  4. 3/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
  5. 1/2 tsp of crushed chili flakes
  6. 1/2 tsp all spice
  7. Good pinch of salt
  1. In a medium pan with a splash of oil sweat off your onions and peaches. Don’t brown them, sweat them (soften them). After 2 or 3 mins add vinegar, sugar, all spice, & salt. Reduce on a low/medium heat, roughly squash the peach pieces with the back of your wooden spoon as you stir slowly. This reduction will take 10 to 20 mins.
  2. Once your peach chutney has reduced/thickened remove it from the heat & let cool. Overnight in the fridge is best but you can throw a healthy dab on a chunk of cheese & eat immediately. Don’t burn your mouth, this is HOT coming straight from the pan.
